Drilling Moratorium

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court won't decide if the Obama administration violated a judge's order that struck down its temporary moratorium on deep water drilling after BP's 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The panelists discussed Lafayette Parish's schoolboard Superintendent's recent controversial hire as well as the Obama Administration's stance on energy production.

Vitter, along with Republican Senators Jeff Session from Alabama and John Cornyn from Texas, believe there was likely collaboration between DOI officials and their Inspector General over "mistakes" that led to the moratorium.

The Chamber leadership will also present their mid-year progress report to the members.

Today is the last day for offshore workers suffering financial hardships because of the federal deepwater drilling moratorium to apply for a second round of assistance grants through the Gulf Coast Restoration and Protection Foundation.

The Obama administration says 13 companies whose deepwater drilling activities were suspended last year may be able to resume drilling without detailed environmental reviews.
