That got us to thinking... what were the most Cajun things that ever happened? After some careful deliberation, we think we've got a pretty definitive list.
The Louisiana legislature opened its 2014 session on Monday, with a full slate of bills to consider. Some are sure to bring spirited debate, like the 15 marijuana related bills. One bill that will likely face little to no opposition is a proposal to introduce a series of license plates honoring Army Rangers, winners of the Distinguished Service Cross and the late artist, George Rodrigue.
Gordon Brooks, dean of the College of the Arts at UL Lafayette, says Rodrigue was a classically trained artist who returned to Louisiana and "began painting what was in front of him: the swamp, the landscape and the tree."
You know him for his "Blue Dog" pictures and Cajun life depictions and now he is about honored by the Boy Scouts of America. George Rodrigue, an Eagle Scout as a boy, will be honored by the BSA with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award...
