A Baker High School teacher was arrested after allegedly bringing a handgun onto campus, according to East Baton Rouge officials.

A woman in Monroe, Louisiana made front-page news earlier this week after she was arrested for waving a firearm during a verbal altercation.

The Louisiana Senate voted Tuesday to end the permitting requirement for those who carry concealed weapons in the state. The measure now heads to the House for debate.

A West Monroe was arrested last week after he allegedly put a gun to his son's head after his son drank the last Dr. Pepper in their home.

Thursday afternoon Lafayette Police were called out to the W. D. Smith Career Center on 18th street after it was reported a student was in a classroom with a firearm.

The suspect drove away in dark colored Dodge Challenger.

The victim was not injured.

There were no injuries or damages reported.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In both cases the suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Also taken was a 9mm handgun.

Police say 25-year-old Miles Guidry of Lafayette fired a shot in the air from his gun, and then the man sped away from the intersection at a high rate of speed.

I do see the point that if a gunfight breaks out and you haven't had a drink you might save a life or two.

The Greater Manchester Police force says a plastic magazine and trigger were seized along with a 3-D printer in a raid against suspected gang members.

One victim had minor injuries.

Detectives are hoping anyone with information will call their office at 337-369-3711.

Police say the suspect used a semi-automatic handgun in the robbery.
