Imagine your monthly water bill normally runs around $40 to $50, but you open your bill and it says you now owe $4,000. Now imagine calling the city to let them know there's obviously a mistake with your water bill, and you're told the bill is actually correct, and that's what you owe. This is exactly what is happening to folks in Jeanerette.

The audit found several problems with the way city officials reported financial matters. A couple times proved to be violations of state law.

According to the City of Jeanerette's Public Works Department they will be flushing the water system city-wide.
