Ochsner Lafayette General announced in June that they were planning a massive upgrade to the facility. The expansion would cost around $100 million and include a 6-floor inpatient tower, a state-of-the-art Cancer center, and a 547 vehicle parking garage tower.
One person had to be rescued by New Orleans firefighters when the truck they were driving crashed from an upper-level French Quarter parking garage and got stuck in between levels.
The dorms that will be demolished were built in the late 60's, and they have not been used for student housing for the last several years due to the fact that they needed renovations.
