Following the unanimous approval by the state bond commission of St. Landry Parish's plan to sell $62.5 million in bonds, the largest road reconstruction effort in the parish's history has moved one step closer to reality.
The measure, which would increase the sales tax in unincorporated St. Landry Parish from 7.55 percent to 9.55 percent, would generate about $7.8 million in its first year, according to Parish President Bill Fontenot.
