Speaker of the House

In a move that many people may have not seen coming, New Iberia Representative Taylor Barras (R) has won election as Louisiana Speaker of the House in 56-49 vote over New Orleans Democrat Walt Leger (D).

The Republicans can't seem to get it together in Congress.

John Boehner will resign from his position as Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as give up his congressional seat, at the end of October.

There is a battle going on among Republicans over funding for Planned Parenthood.

Two other Republicans have said they will not vote for Boehner in the speaker's race.
