According to Fox26 when deputies arrived at the scene to assist the railroad police they learned that a man, 27-year-old Resendo Tellez, had removed evidence from the scene of the accident. When the pedestrian was struck by the train it severed his leg and shockingly, Tellez decided to flee with the leg in tow.
Sad news out of St. Landry Parish as Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says that his office investigated a fatality of a pedestrian that was hit by a train on Friday, January 21.
The Slidell Police Department said the 66-year-old man, who is possibly suffering from dementia, appeared to be sleeping on the train tracks around 9:30 pm when he was hit.
Details are still scarce, but KATC-TV3 is reporting that two people were injured in a crash involving a train and a passenger vehicle early Monday afternoon.
A spokesman for Canadian National Railway Co. says preliminary reports indicate one of the company's trains was headed south and struck cars on another train.
