Sad news out of St. Landry Parish as Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says that his office investigated a fatality of a pedestrian that was hit by a train on Friday, January 21.
The Slidell Police Department said the 66-year-old man, who is possibly suffering from dementia, appeared to be sleeping on the train tracks around 9:30 pm when he was hit.
Details are still scarce, but KATC-TV3 is reporting that two people were injured in a crash involving a train and a passenger vehicle early Monday afternoon.
A spokesman for Canadian National Railway Co. says preliminary reports indicate one of the company's trains was headed south and struck cars on another train.
