So when I saw this news story I just knew I had to share it with everyone! The nation’s oldest living World War II veteran, Lawrence Brooks, has turned another year older. Not only is Lawrence Brooks 112 but he is a Louisiana native.

The WWII Museum in New Orleans has one of the rarest of artifacts, a PT boat. Only 10 others exist. None are operational. More than 200 volunteers have served in a $3 million restoration, with the goal of returning her to Lake Ponchartrain, where she was originally launched.

Every WW II veteran is encouraged to participate. The tour includes transportation to and from the museum, and a complimentary lunch.

In speaking with officials at the National WWII Museum today, Bentley made the realization that no group of WWII veterans had ever visited the museum via a program like the Tribute Tour.

Departure time is Tuesday, November 18, at 0730. Lunch will be included, and the bus(es) are expected to return at 1730.
