There are some unique ways to strike it rich in Texas. You could bust up on a blowout in Midland, Odessa, or anywhere in the Permian Basin.  You could stumble across some cash doing some plumbing work at a fancy church in Houston. Or you could be a marginal quarterback in Dallas and get paid millions. Look, I went to Mississippi State too and have just as many Super Bowl wins as "Number 4".

While those might be dream jobs for some, most of us would just as soon let the Texas Lottery and one of the big multi-state lottery games like Powerball or Mega Millions provide for our future. Okay, that's a tongue in cheek way of saying I don't think any of us would mind getting a huge financial windfall from some lottery luck.

Last night in state of Texas, Lady Luck laid a big fat one on a lucky Mega Millions lottery player, to the tune of one million dollars.  Our sources in Austin at the Texas Lottery confirmed the big win late Friday night. Here's what we know about Texas' newest millionaire.

The Mega Millions game was in reset mode last night. The game produced a big winner on Tuesday of some $560 million. So Friday's top prize was $20 million. Here's how the Mega Millions drawing for Friday June 7, 2024, unfolded.

The balls didn't "bounce right" for us to proclaim another jackpot winner so Tuesday's Mega Millions top prize will be an estimated $30 million with a cash option of $13.9 million.

The numbers from Friday were:

03   05   12   22   66   Mega Ball 07   Megaplier  x4

Use those numbers for reference but please verify your ticket at the Official Mega Millions site or the Official Texas Lottery site. Those sites allow you to input your ticket number or numbers and will let you know exactly what your prize is. The sites also provide guidance on the most important aspect of playing the lottery, how to collect your winnings.

No tickets matched the numbers needed for the $20 million top prize on Friday but a ticket sold in California and one sold in Texas did match all five of the white balls. Those tickets are worth one million dollars this morning. If the players had opted for the megaplier, they would be waking up to four million.

And the Match 5 Million winner wasn't Texas' only big win last night. There were five $10,000 winning tickets and two $40,000 winners sold for Friday's drawing all purchased in the great state of Texas.

My source at the Texas Lottery was able to confirm point-of-purchase details on the million dollar winner. Texas Lottery rules allow that so we know the ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers. It did not opt for the megaplier. It was sold in Old River-Winfree Texas which is in Chambers County between Houston and Beaumont.

If that place pictured above looks familiar and you bought a Mega Millions ticket for Friday's drawing you probably are digging for the ticket right now. That's  Sam's Express according to Google Maps, they sold the million dollar winner and they'll get a nice payday from the Texas Lottery just for selling the big winner.

We don't have point of purchase information on the $10,000 winners and the $40,000 winners lottery rules don't allow for that in Texas but you know if you bought a ticket you should check to see if you won, right?

The Texas Lottery and those who play the game will now turn their attention to Powerball for Saturday night. That jackpot is estimated to be $206 million with a cash payout of $96.9 million if you win and choose that option. The Powerball will draw tonight at 9:59.

Here's my soapbox moment, please note that most lottery tickets purchased are just expensive litter. Sure it's fun to play the games and I know we all have fun doing it but please play these games responsibly. If you can't afford to lose the money then you can't afford to play right now. If you have a gambling problem, seek help, it's available and it's free by calling 1-800-GAMBLER. Make the call, it could save your life. Good Luck.
