Texas Lottery Confirms New Mega Millions Millionaire Friday

Did you see the moon over Dallas on Friday night?

Me neither, but I bet it was pretty last night. The strawberry hue of the Strawberry Moon, certainly made Friday night a night for dreaming, didn't it? You see where I'm going now? Bam! There is a new millionaire in the state of Texas as confirmed by the Texas Lottery and the folks who bring you Mega Millions. 

Mega Millions was last night's big draw for many lottery players in Texas. The estimated top prize for Friday, June 21, 2024 was $80,000,000. That's 80 million dollars that could fuel a lot of dreams under the big ol Texas moon. Here's how the drawing played out.

Those sites will also have information on how to collect your prize or prizes that you've won.  And don't forget, Texas Lottery tickets can expire. You do need to redeem your prize within the allotted time or you forfeit your winnings.

At the headquarters of Mega Millions in Atlanta, Georgia they have confirmed there was no jackpot win in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery Friday night. There was one Match 5 Million winner and that ticket was sold in the state of Texas.

Congratulations, Texas has a brand new millionaire.

That was the largest win in the state and also the largest win across the Mega Millions footprint. Texas tickets did earn some "weekend money".  The Texas Lottery site is reporting that 39 tickets sold in last night's drawing earned $500.

There were also another 20 tickets sold in Texas that matched the same combination. However the purchasers of those tickets opted to spend the extra dollar an include the Megaplier. For Friday's drawing that would mean $500 x 4 or $2000.

Million Dollar Lottery Ticket Sold in Texas - Mega Millions

We do know a little bit more about the Match 5 Million ticket from Friday night. The ticket was sold at a Texas Raceway Store. That store is located on US Highway 380 in Bridgeport Texas. Since that retailer sold the big winner, they'll get a nice "bonus" as well.

For Saturday night, we won't have the "full" Strawberry Moon, Flower Moon, Hot Moon, Planting Moon, yeah it depends on where in the country you're looking I guess but many of us will be inside watching the Powerball drawing. The red ball and the Strawberry Moon could be easily mistaken, right?

The Powerball top prize is an estimated $72 million for the annuity and the lump sum payout is $34.6 million. There is also a jackpot of  $28.5 million in the Texas Lottery Lotto Texas Extra! game tonight. So there are still chances for those moon induced dreams to come true.
