The details of a crash in Beauregard parish which claimed the life of a Texas man were released to members of the press this morning.

Louisiana State Police report that Troop D repsonded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 190 roughly one mile east of the Texas state line in Beauregard Parish. Robert Norman of Bon Wier, Texas, was traveling west on U.S. 190 when his vehicle veered off the left side of the highway. The 69-year old attempted to overcorrect to the right and then lost control of the vehicle, which entered a ditch on the right side of the highway before overturning.

Norman was ejected from his Nissan Frontier and was pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is testing a routine toxicology sample. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police remind all drivers that Louisiana law requres vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in the seated position all times of day and that wearing a seatbelt reduces the likelihood of serious injury or death in a crash.
