But sometimes, we forget that people travel from all over the world to eat our food, go to our festivals, and visit our historic buildings. Only in Louisiana has found some destinations that even the most avid Louisiana travel might have missed. But they are worth a visit, for sure!   • Ardoyne Plantation, 2678 LA-311, Schriever. Built in 1888, six generations of one family has occupied the Rural Victorian Gothic plantation home. Tours are available Tuesdays through Saturdays.
  • Biedenharn Museum & Gardens, 2000 Riverside Drive, Monroe. Located on the beautiful Ouachita River in Monroe. The Coca Cola Museum on the grounds is infidelity worth a trip to north Louisiana
  • Poverty Point, 6859 LA-577, Pioneer. A World Heritage Site, and grounds that are over 3,000 years old. Pretty incredible history lesson right here.
  • Fairview-Riverside State Park, 119 Fairview Drive, Madisonville. Out of our 21 State Parks, this is one of the most beautiful. Sitting right on the Tchefuncte River, you can also take a tour of the Otis House Museum on the grounds.
  • American Rose Center, 8877 Jefferson Paige Road, Shreveport. 20,000 rose bushes makes for a very fragrant destination
  • Bayou Teche Paddle Trail. Familiar to a lot of us here in Acadiana, this 135 mile trail goes through four parishes from Port Barre to Berwick
  • Insta-Gator Ranch & Hatchery, 74645 Allen Road, Covington.  Home to over 2,000 alligators, this is a family friendly attraction that is so much fun!
  • Louisiana History Museum, 503 Washington Street, Alexandria. A wealth of information about the uniqueness that is our beautiful state. A great place to take the kids to appreciate their heritage.
