NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Three men have escaped from Orleans Parish Prison.

The inmates have been identified as 25-year-old Reginald Batiste, 51-year-old Michael Washington and 24-year old Dominique Battle. All three were in jail on drug charges.

WDSU TV reports a deputy was on security patrol around the perimeter of the Temporary Housing Center around 9 p.m. Sunday when he saw the three inmates trying to escape and chased the suspects. The inmates apparently cut the exterior of their tent.

Deputies say one or more of the inmates may have been injured while scaling the armed razor wire fence into the construction site for the new Inmate Housing Facility and Intake and Processing Center.
