Louisiana State Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in St. Martin Parish yesterday on LA 680 about 4:30 on Thursday. In that crash, one person was killed and two others were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Troopers believe a vehicle driven by Jamie Thibodeaux of St. Martinville crossed the center line while traveling east on LA 680. When Thibodeaux's vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of travel it impacted a truck traveling in the westbound lanes.

In their preliminary investigation Troopers noted that Thibodeaux was not restrained. It is quite plausible that this lead to the fatal injuries he suffered in the crash. Thibodeaux was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the other vehicle were restrained. Both of those people suffered moderate injuries. It was not made clear if those injuries were considered to be life-threatening or not.

State Police say the results of toxicology samples taken at the scene are pending. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
