The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team got underway in the Baylor Invitational early Friday afternoon as they took on the Kent State Golden Flashes.

Carrie Boswell got the start in the circle for Louisiana opposed by Madi Huck.

The Cajuns jumped on the Golden Flashes early and often in this one as they got on the scoreboard in the very first inning when they got what I like to call, a Milligan run. Keeli Milligan got on to lead off the inning, she promptly stole second, stole third, and scored when the Kent State catcher threw the ball away. 1-0 Cajuns.

It would be all Louisiana from there as they plated another run in the second and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.

The fourth inning is where UL really put a hurting on the Golden Flashes. In the inning, the offense plated a total of eight runs. It started off with a couple of RBI singles via Kara Gremillion and Alissa Dalton and then the big blows came. First, it was Bailey Curry who cracked a three-run shot to dead center and next was Raina O'Neal who popped one over the fence in right field for a two-run home run. When the dust settled on the inning it was 13-0 Cajuns.

Not to be outdone, the offensive attack continued into the 5th inning as Louisiana poured on eight more runs. Kara Gremillion recorded two RBI hits, Dalton smashed another run-scoring single, O'Neal drove in one, Comeaux singled in a run, Sarah Hudek doubled in two more, and Curry knocked in the final one for a 21-0 lead.

Kandra Lamb finished up the game allowing a home run to Kent State's third baseman Bailey Brownfield and the game ended early due to the run rule, 21-1.

Bailey Curry led the way for the Cajuns, collecting three hits and driving in six runs. All together UL pounded out 19 hits and eight players had a multiple hit game. Carrie Boswell picked up her third win of the season (3-0)

Next up for the Cajuns, they'll play host Baylor tonight. First pitch was scheduled for 5:30 pm but will probably be pushed back due to the tournament style play.
