UL Softball Moves Up In Attendance Figures
As is normally the case, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns drew extremely well for their respective home games at Yvette Girouard at Lamson Park in 2019.
Louisiana currently ranks 7th in the nation in the latest college softball attendance figures.
That's two spots up from one week ago.
Heading into the week, UL was 46-4 on the season, including a 25-1 home record, having drawn 38,144 fans.
Of course, the Cajuns wrapped-up the home portion of the 2019 regular season schedule last weekend, with a three-game series sweep of Coastal Carolina.
Alabama, who has drawn 67,467 fans, through 26 home games, ranks number one in the country, followed by Auburn, who has drawn 59,244 through only 31 home games.
Arizona ranks third on the list, having drawn 50,689 through 25 games, with Texas A&M checking in fourth, after drawing 48,296 through 35 home games.
LSU ranks 5th on the list, having drawn 46,516 fans through 31 home dates
In terms of average attendance, Louisiana ranks 9th, averaging 1,467 fans a game, one of only 16 schools in the nation that are averaging more than 1,000 fans.
And actually, Louisiana likely ranks even better in attendance, as they're averaging over 1,700 fans per home contest. The issue is that it seems as though the Cajuns, in the tournaments they played in, in which they played two home games in one day; were credited for one attendance figure for one game, but were given zero attendance for the other, declining their average attendance numbers.
It's a glitch in the system; one that the NCAA will, hopefully, work out in the future.
As for now; these are the official stats.
With only one week remaining in the regular season, Alabama ranks at the top in average attendance, averaging 2,595 fans per home contest.
Ranking high in attendance is nothing new, as the Cajuns typically draw among the best programs in the nation, ranking in the top ten in attendance the last two years.
Hopefully, Louisiana will play at home, at least a couple of more times, in 2019, but that will depend on how they finish the year, and whether or not the selection committee selects them as a host school for a potential NCAA Regional.
Whether that happens, or not; 2019 proved once again that Yvette Girouard at Lamson Park is always a special place for UL softball!
