A few weeks ago the long-range weather forecasts were pointing to another ice age just in time for Fat Tuesday in Louisiana. While the cold air is coming, it won't be nearly as cold as first thought for those who were contemplating building a Mardi Gras sneauxman.

As of now with Mardi Gras a little less than a week away the forecast for Tuesday isn't that bad. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is currently predicting temperatures in the mid to upper 60-degree range but there will be a small threat of showers.

The worst of the potential problems with weather might come this weekend. Forecasters are suggesting a storm system will slowly move into the area late in the day on Friday and then basically stick around for all the fun this weekend.

The current weather service forecast is calling for a 70% probability of rain during the day on Saturday and again on Sunday. This might temper your parade and festival plans but don't start canceling anything just yet.

As we have seen Mother Nature is very fickle when it comes to the forecast. Who knows it could be sunny and 75 by the time Fat Tuesday arrives.
