ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (AP) — The West Feliciana Parish Police Jury deadlocked 3-3 on a proposed noise ordinance after a lengthy discussion.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/L17g7Z ) the proposed ordinance arose from complaints last year about a motorcycle track used by a professional rider and has been modified several times.

Six parish residents spoke for the noise restrictions Monday, including several people who originally complained about the track last summer, and five spoke against it.

Jurors Heather Howle, Lea Williams and Otis Wilson voted for the new law, while Mel Percy, Ricky Lambert and Melvin Young dissented. Juror John Kean was absent.
