A Breaux Bridge woman is in jail, charged with taking advantage of a veteran to the tune of $6500. The victim tells police 51-year-old Crystal Walker claimed her non-profit organization, Pennelot, could file VA claims on his behalf at a quicker rate than if he did it himself. Four months and thousands of dollars later, the victim called the VA and discovered no one had applied for any benefits on his behalf. Lafayette Police believe there may be more victims of this scam and urge that if you paid money to the organization of Pennelot and Walker without receiving any services, call your local police.
