More and more mature and elderly Louisianans are embracing Internet technology as a way to stay in touch with family and the world around them. Denise Bottcher, with AARP of Louisiana, says the fastest-growing group of new users of online tech are those 65 and older. Bottcher says a research study, paid for by AARP, found that an increasing number of seniors are learning about social media like Facebook, Twitter and Skype. She says it's a good way for them to feel less isolated. Bottcher says many are asking children, or even grandchildren, to help them get up to speed with using the Internet to reach out to others. She says, by far, the most popular site for seniors is Facebook.com.
