It's Thanksgiving, and many people are celebrating a day of thanks with lots of food. Many of us will sit down to a delicious meal of turkey and the trimmings, or maybe a huge ham or savory gumbo.

Governor Bobby Jindal says he looks forward to taking a short break from state business for this Thanksgiving holiday. Mr.Jindal says like most of us - he plans some quality time with his family. As for the Jindal Family Thanksgiving meal, the Governor says he, Mrs.Jindal and the kids all plan to eat too much turkey.

Plenty of folks across the Acadiana area may be planning to fry up their bird this year, as it only takes about three and a half minutes per pound, but does it pack on the pounds? An LSU AgCenter nutrionist says eating fried turkey is not as bad as sounds for your health.

Beth Reames says frying a turkey in oil does not necessarily increase the amount of fat in the turkey as long as the oil is hot enough. She says if you are really worried about your weight today, eat white meat over dark meat, because there are more calories and fat in the darker meat.
