LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — The man scheduled to be tried for first-degree murder in the slaying of a 50-year-old pizza delivery driver is asking for a change of venue.

The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1amUHg2) District Judge Edward Broussard took AaronOrlando Richards' request under advisement Monday during a motion hearing.

Richards is accused of stabbing pizza delivery driver Tim Falgout in 2010 while he was on his delivery route in Youngsville.

On Sept. 30, Richards' attorney, Harold Register Jr., filed the memorandum in support of motion and order for change of venue.

Register said the influence of local media coverage has denied his client a fair trial.

Richards' trial date is scheduled for July 7.
