At tomorrow night's Lafayette City Parish Council meeting, members will be asked to consider passing an ordinance that would split the costs and rewards of pursing past-due tickets for red-light cameras with Redflex.

For several months, the council and administration have been going back and forth over whether or not they should vote take violators to court who have not paid up, and if they do so, who pays for the costs to recover the money.

Under Lafayette's current contract with Redflex, the entire burden of collecting the money falls Lafayette.

An introductory ordinance up for consideration tomorrow night, if passed, would mean that Redflex would have to shoulder 40 percent of the burden for legal costs associated with getting the overdue fines.
