Barricades will start going up at 8 o'clock Friday morning for the upcoming celebrations of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Lafayette.

Lafayette Police Corporal Bridgette Dugas says that barricades will be placed on West Willow all the way to North University where it intersects with the Northwest Evangeline Thruway.

She says that West Willow will be closed between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Once the barricades are up, the outside lane on each side will be open to traffic.

On Sunday, the day of the Martin Luther King Jr. parade, West Willow will be closed again from North University to the Northwest Evangeline Thruway.

West Willow will be closed from 2:30 Sunday afternoon through 5-6 p.m. when the parade wraps up.

The day following the parade, the crews will be out on Tuesday, January 22 to pick up the barricades, so again West Willow between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
