Louisiana State Police Superintendent is reportedly going to announce his retirement today.

As of late, his agency has been under the microscope after troopers allegedly took luxury trips while on the clock. Edmonson said that troopers doing such a thing is an embarrassment to the agency.

Col. Edmonson has been with the Louisiana State Police for over 35 years and once considered entering the political world when he thought about running for Lt. Governor.

Being the Superintendent of State Police we have seen Col. Edmonson on television in recent years when police were involved in shootings, during natural disasters, and during the shooting at a theater in Lafayette.

In recent weeks, US Senator John Kennedy has called for Edmonson’s resignation following the scandal involving troopers. Sen. Kennedy suggested that it was time for a change in the agency.

We will continue to follow this developing story.
