Vermilion Narcotics Agents working street sales distribution in the parish say they came across 26-year-old Jacoby Lee who had active warrants for his arrest for possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Agents went over to his car, told him several times he was under arrest, and that's when they say Lee hit the accelerator in an attempt to run over two task force agents.

The agents were able to jump out of the way, and Lee sped off.

Officers found Lee's car a few blocks away from where they tried to stop him, but he was nowhere to be found. They were securing Lee's car when they found crack and a small amount of marijuana.

While processing evidence, the K-9 division spotted Lee hiding, and a foot chase ensued.  Lee stopped running at one point, officers say he took a combative stance, but agents were able to arrest him.

While arresting him, one of the agents says Lee told the agent he would "see to it that he was killed on the streets".

Lee was arrested on the outstanding warrants and on the following charges:

  • Two counts of attempted first degree murder
  • Threatening a public official
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
