ST. JOSEPH, La. (AP) — A Baton Rouge woman is in custody after she allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana to an inmate at the Tensas Parish Detention Center.

Sheriff Ricky Jones told The News Star that 29-year-old Kimbolyn C. Stepp became combative Saturday when a guard began a routine pat-down search required before visiting inmates. Jones says the female guard felt something during the search and found the woman had a small package of marijuana on her person.

Stepp was booked with one count each of possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, battery of a corrections officer and resisting an officer.

Jones says Stepp is being held at the Franklin Parish Detention Center in Winnsboro on $12,500 bond.
