YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- Police have captured the woman who escaped from the Youngsville Police Department yesterday, triggering the lockdown of two schools in the area.

According to KATC TV-3, Ashley Perkins was arrested last night and charged with simple escape.

Perkins somehow managed to escape from the police department's jail yesterday while being processed and while still handcuffed, police said.

Her escape forced the lockdowns of Green T. Lindon Elementary and Youngsville Middle Schools.

Perkins was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, the television station reported.
