The fourth annual Mickey Shunick Loop Ride will be held at 6 pm this Thursday, July 25 in Lafayette. The ride begins and ends at Girard Park.

This event is held each year to celebrate the life of Mickey Shunick, who was kidnapped while riding her bike in Lafayette back in May 2012. Her body was later found in August 2012 in Evangeline Parish.

The ride is held on the anniversary of the resolution date establishing the Mickey Shunick Memorial Bike Loop in her honor. The original date of the ride was July 18 but that had to be postponed due to Hurricane Barry.

Bike Lafayette, a nonprofit organization focused on bicycle education, safety and infrastructure, is helping to host the event.

The route for this year's ride will take participants around Lafayette, from Girard Park through the University, to Cajun Field and Moncus Park before returning to Girard Park.

All riders and non-riders are invited to attend the official after-party at The Wurst Biergarten.
