Crowley, LA (KPEL News) - Scott Richard led the Acadia Parish School System in south Louisiana for six years. He decided to retire and left the post in April. The board was tasked with hiring his replacement, and they made the decision during Tuesday's meeting.

Six candidates made the cut, but only one was selected. She's no stranger to the Acadia Parish School Board Office or the area. She has lived in Crowley her entire life, graduated from Crowley High School, and is a 30+ year veteran of Acadia Parish schools.

Carol Dailey-Tall began as a speech therapist and moved on to become Supervisor of Special Education. She then became Federal Programs Supervisor and, most recently, Executive Director of Curriculum and Education. People familiar with Acadia Parish School leadership know that she served as Richard's second-in-command, so it was no surprise when she was named interim superintendent until her most recent appointment. She says his counsel was the reason she felt she could do the job.

The School Board unanimous approved her for the position, and she appreciates the support they've extended to her during the transition.

Dailey-Tall is married and has one son. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Louisiana- Lafayette (then USL) and a Master’s Degree in Education from McNeese State University.

I've known Carol for a long time. She and I attended school together, and her passion for education and, more importantly, for the students is genuine. She has been an integral part of the development of a Crowley Boys and Girls Club because collaboration between the school system and the student-focused non-profit promotes success for both organizations.

I sent Carol a text congratulating her on the appointment. She expressed her thanks and said:

Appreciate your support and looking forward to continued relationship moving forward. My heart wants what is best for Acadia!

Congratulations, Carol. We look forward to seeing you lead the Acadia Parish School System.
