Terrance St. Julien, one of the non-profit organizers, is always looking for people in need in our local community. He shared a video on the organization's Facebook page making an exciting phone call to a single mom who's car recently broke down and no longer has transportation to her Lafayette job. "What if I told you that we have a car waiting for you in Lafayette that was donated?"

He explains that a lady who goes to his church reached out after she purchased a new car. She no longer had use for the vehicle and wanted to pay it forward to a single mother who was in need of transportation instead of selling it.

Mr. Terrance asks her if she ever asked God to help her, to which she replies yes, I did, "Ok, well, that's him." He then passed the phone to the woman and her family, who decided to donate their car, and listening to how grateful the mother is for a stranger's generosity will move you to tears.

Ms. Jackie, who nominated the single mom after learning of her transportation troubles, explains that she was doing everything she could to get her "blessed". She says at times they would even drive to go pick her up to ensure she made it to work so she can provide for her family.

The efforts of everyone involved are an incredible example of the good that people do in our community that often go unnoticed. If you are interested in donating to Pay it forward lending a helping hand you can contact them on their Facebook page or use one of the methods listed below.

They are now looking for donations to put her in a hotel for a week or so while her apartment gets set up in town closer to her Lafayette job.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
