Acadiana Voluntary Evacuations Ordered

Here is a list of areas that hold a voluntary evacuation order.

Acadia Parish

Sheriff K.P. Gibson has requested that residents residing south of Highway 92 (southern Acadia Parish) in a low lying area begin a voluntary evacuation. If your property floods easily, you should consider evacuating between now and Friday. Officials say to pack enough clothes and supplies for several days and make arrangements for pets.

The Pontoon Bridge in Estherwood will be opened Thursday July 11, 2019 at noon until further notice.

The Acadia Parish Police Jury President has signed a declaration for a State of Emergency this afternoon.

Cameron Parish

All areas below the Intracoastal Waterway in Cameron Parish are now under a Voluntary Evacuation. Parish officials ask that residents monitor the storm closely as conditions may change rapidly. This includes the communities of Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, Holly Beach, Cameron, Creole, Grand Chenier and Big Lake.

Residents of Cameron Parish who live in an area not listed, that are prone to flooding, are advised to take all preliminary precautions and finalize their evacuation preparation plans at this time due to Tropical Storm Barry. Campers/travel trailers should also be removed from the areas of evacuation.

Iberia Parish

A voluntary evacuation has been issued for residents of Iberia Parish South of U.S. Highway 90 on Thursday, July 11. The voluntary evacuation, according to parish officials, is due to the threat of high winds, heavy rains, storm surges and flooding as a result of Tropical Storm Barry.

Parish president M. Larry Richard say residents of the parish who meet the following conditions should consider voluntarily evacuating.

• Anyone living in areas vulnerable to potential storm surges
• Anyone having special needs
• Anyone living in low-lying areas along lakes, bayous, streams, and drainage structures that have experienced flooding in the past.
• Anyone living in a structure that has experienced flooding following heavy rain events.

Residents are advised to check their supplies and create a plan of action for their families and pets while continuing to monitor the Iberia Parish Notification System (PINS) and other local media sources. Those wishing to evacuate should do so immediately. Officials say those who remain behind may find themselves without power and unable to leave areas should they become flooded or blocked by storm debris.

Parish President David Hanagriff has declared Voluntary Evacuation for South of Intracoastal Waterway beginning Noon on Thursday July 11th

Vermilion Parish

A voluntary evacuation is in effect for residents in Vermilion Parish who live in low-lying areas or in areas known to flood. There are no shelters set up in Vermilion Parish, so you are urged to stay with friends or family members if you need to evacuate.
