Report: ‘Massive’ Amazon Fulfillment Center Coming To Old Evangeline Downs Property In Carencro

According to sources close to the project, Amazon could be coming to Cajun country.

A report from The Current details what seems to be a massive Amazon fulfillment center, set to be housed on the old Evangeline Downs property in Carencro. Things seem to be pretty hush, but you can connect all the dots from The Current's story here.

What we do know is that local real estate investor Carrol Castille is also remaining silent on the property he owns off the NE Evangeline Thruway

I’m under a confidentiality agreement with a large land purchaser. I have not seen one document with Amazon’s name on it.

Here's the good news.

Based on similar confirmed deals, we're looking at about 1,000 jobs at minimum coming to Lafayette Parish. Of the two types of facilities that Amazon typically builds to speed up delivery to customers, The Current reports that the large-scale warehouse model ("fulfillment center") is the one set for Lafayette.
