NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Actor Andy Garcia will reign as Bacchus on the Sunday before Mardi Gras.

The krewe made the announcement on Tuesday at the National World War II Museum. Its March 6 parade will have a World War II theme this year.

Garcia portrayed a mob boss in Godfather III and has been in numerous other movies.

The krewe, formed in the late 1960s and featuring massive floats, typically has a major celebrity as its king. It is named for the Roman god of wine.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was Bacchus in 2010.

Others to wear the crown have included entertainers Bob Hope, William Shatner, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, Kirk Douglas, Jackie Gleason and Hulk Hogan. The first Bacchus was Danny Kaye in 1969.

Mardi Gras is March 8th.
