The shooting occurred at the American Legion Hall located in the 600 block of West 3rd Street shortly after 1:30 am.

The original release identified Obryan Lamar Woods as the suspect involved in the shooting. “Since the initial release, we have recalled the arrest warrant issued for Woods for Attempted Second Degree Murder” stated Chief K.P. Gibson. “Our investigators revealed that Woods did fire a handgun during the disturbance, however he did not shoot the victim that morning. Woods has been arrested and charged with illegal discharge of a firearm. He has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail, with other charges pending” stated Chief Gibson.

Crowley Police have identified the actual shooter and with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Service and the Lafayette Police Department, have taken this suspect into custody. The shooting suspect has been identified as Joshua Deangelo Stringer, 26, Crowley. Stinger was arrested for Attempted Second Degree Murder. He was arrested in Lafayette Parish late Wednesday evening without incident. He has since been transported to the Acadia Parish Jail.

Stringer does face additional charges as during the investigation he made threats to persons he believed to be witnesses as well as threatened the life of an investigator. “We have taken the threats of Stringer extremely serious. Our investigation does not end here. He has made threats on the life of a Police Officer and we will aggressively pursue charging him for these additional crimes,” stated Chief Gibson.
