In this edition of "Not Necessarily The News", Tootie Landry meets a young man that lives by this motto. He's someone whose name you may hear more and more over the next few months.

"Hey! I'm Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! It's not often I'm sitting face to face with a 21-year-old and getting impressed by the minute! Last week I was fortunate enough to visit with someone who has overcome immense adversity in his life. He's managed to come out on the other side stronger and more determined to reach his dreams. So, of course, he's the go-to guy in high pressure situations. His motto: 'Be comfortable with the Uncomfortable.'
He's not the typical Junior at UL. He doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't watch TV, there's no Facebook or Twitter account either. He credits his parents for teaching him discipline and focus. And this has been a necessity in his life!
At 12-years-old while riding his bike, he was hit by a car traveling 55 mph. He endured 8 surgeries and 1 year without walking. He's had meningitis twice, countless injuries along the way and is currently nursing 2 fractures in his lower back. But like I said, he is determined and disciplined. He averages 20 hours a semester and maintains a 3.7 GPA majoring in Biology and Chemistry!
And where might you find this UL student? On the pitchers mound at Moore Field! He's Matt Hicks a Ragin Cajun Baseball Player!
And I'm Tootie Landry and this is "Not Necessarily the News!"
