Bill Requiring Traffic Stop Training During Driver’s Ed Moves To Full House
A bill that requires specific training during driver’s education courses on how motorists should behave during a traffic stop received approval from the House Transportation Committee. Plaquemine Representative Chad Brown is the author of the measure.
“There are certain things that I think young drivers in driver’s ed maybe could be provided some instruction on how to conduct themselves in a traffic stop.”
Brown says often times young drivers are not always sure how to respond when getting pulled over.
“Sometimes the officer might want you to exit the vehicle, sometimes the officer might want you to remain in the vehicle. Sometimes it’s wise to have your hands on the steering wheel.”
The measure now heads to the full House. Brown says this is just common sense legislation.
“I don’t see this as a bill that favors either side, being a pro-police bill or a pro-occupant bill.”
