Bossier Sheriff Forming Ceremonial Mounted Unit

BENTON, La. (AP) — The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is seeking volunteers for its ceremonial Mounted Patrol unit.

The equestrian team will represent the Sheriff's Office at community events such as parades, rodeos, and events throughout Bossier parish.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said in a Tuesday news release that the parish has many residents who are avid horse riders. The release says trail riders, professional riders or those who simply enjoy riding horses are encouraged to sign up for the unit, which will not be involved in law enforcement activities.
