Boustany On Judge’s Decision To Overturn Health-Care Law
Lafayette, LA – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana), today issued the following statement in support of US District Court Judge Roger Vinson’s decision to overturn President Obama’s health-care law.
“I applaud this ruling,” Boustany said. “Once again, a federal judge has recognized this law is unconstitutional, and I hope the Supreme Court will quickly uphold this decision. The American people deserve real solutions that bring down the cost of health care, and improve quality and access. As a physician on the Ways and Means Committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to bring about meaningful health-care reform.”
Judge Vinson’s decision today overturned the law passed last year, declaring that the “individual mandate” clause in the law was a violation of the Commerce Clause of the US Constitution. The suit was filed by 26 states, including Louisiana. Boustany has been a vocal opponent of the health-care law, and will continue to fight for sensible health-care solutions for all Americans.
