Boustany, Ways And Means Committee Approve 1099 Repeal Legislation
Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana) today voted with the House Ways and Means Committee to approve two pieces of legislation to repeal the 1099 small business reporting provisions of President Obama’s health-care law. The committee approved H.R. 4, the “Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011,” and H.R. 705, the “Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Repayment of Exchange Subsidy Overpayments Act of 2011.”
“Today’s action by the Ways and Means Committee is an important first step in repealing this disastrous health-care law,” Boustany said. “The 1099 component of Obamacare is incredibly inefficient, and creates mountains of unnecessary paperwork for small businesses across the country. Eliminating it is the right thing to do, but is only the beginning of our work to fully dismantle this law. We need a practical health-care plan to improve quality, reduce costs and expand effective coverage, while improving the doctor-patient relationship.”
