Paula Zeanah is the clinical director of the Louisiana Nurse Family Partnership program or NFP. NFP clients are among those least likely to breastfeed. Zeanah says registered nurses visit the home of low-income new mothers. Zeanah says registered nurses go into the mom’s home weekly or every other week until the baby turns two. Three out of four women in the United States provide their infants with the healthiest start in life by breastfeeding. Zeanah says the NFP works with a lot of women who fall under the category of unlikely breast feeders.
