(St. Martinville, La.)-Yesterday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation at a local car dealership regarding an alleged fraudulent purchase of a motor vehicle.  Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that Kristen Kelly, 27, Breaux Bridge, used another person’s personal information to purchase a 2010 Dodge Ram four door pickup truck on November 16, 2010 valued at $30,000.00.  Kelly tried unsuccessfully four different times in Texas to purchase a vehicle using another person’s identity before being able to complete the fraud in Louisiana.  Kelly was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center Thursday night on the charges of Forgery and Theft by Fraud in the amount of $30,000, and her bond was set at $6,000.00.  She was also booked on an unrelated existing warrant for Issuing Worthless Checks through the District Attorney’s Office. After posting her bond, she was released from the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
