Brian Pope Reports To Jail
Suspended Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope was booked into jail on Friday, but bonded out soon after. That's according to our news partners at KATC.
Pope had requested to the court to set bail so he could remain free during the appeals process of his recent conviction. On Friday, Judge David Smith signed off on a post-conviction bond of $25,000.00 for Pope. He made two conditions to the bond:
- Pope must submit to GPS monitoring
- Pope must obey a curfew from 8 PM to 6 AM, except for any working hours.
Pope's next court dates are Thursday, July 25, and Monday, August 1, for his two next cases alleging malfeasance in office against him.
