Cajuns Late Rally Comes Up Short As Season Comes To An End
The 2019 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball season ended on Thursday at the hands of the Troy Trojans in the first game of the elimination bracket in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Trojans defeated the Cajuns 10-7.
The game started off very well for Louisiana in this one.
Tony talks a lot about a three-run inning, number one avoiding them for his pitching and number two getting them for the offense. In the third inning, the offense found one and scored three times to grab the lead at that point 3-0 in the third.
Logan Savoy got the start and was very good early in this game, holding the Trojans down for three innings but yielded single runs in the fourth and fifth. Tony Robichaux left him in the game in the sixth inning but he couldn't record an out, Blake Schultz entered the game.
Schultz had a difficult third of an inning in which he allowed both of Savoy's runners that he inherited to score as well as three of his own. Gunner Leger was brought in to try and put out the fire but he allowed the two runners he inherited to score and Troy batted around and put up five runs in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.
Connor Cooke then entered and he would pour gasoline on the fire by allowing three solo home runs in the seventh inning to increase the Troy lead to 10-3.
Louisiana wouldn't go down without a fight as they put up two in the eighth on a Todd Lott home run and then two in the ninth but it was too little, too late. They fell 10-7 and their 2019 season came to a close.
Savoy was saddled with the loss and he fell to 2-3 on the year and the Cajuns finished the year 28-31 overall.
