Calcasieu School Superintendent Stepping Down
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Calcasieu Parish School Superintendent Wayne Savoy asked the school board to immediately begin looking for his replacement.
In an emotional and tearful speech on Tuesday, Savoy said that since becoming superintendent in 2006, he has enjoyed every minute of the job and is proud of the work he has done, but he is ready to spend time with his family.
Savoy said he will work with the board and the new superintendent for any length of time the members need to make the transition easy.
The American Press reports Annette Ballard, board president, will form a subcommittee at next month's meeting to begin searching for candidates.
