Carencro Woman Identified as Victim in Breaux Bridge Shooting
34-year-old Jatona Gary of Carencro has been identified as the woman who was shot to death in Breaux Bridge over the weekend.
The suspect, 57-year-old Warren Joseph Chavis, was her uncle.
According to a press release from Breaux Bridge Police, Gary was at Chavis' home in the 700 block of Alberta Street when an argument began and Chavis allegedly shot her. Chavis was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following three charges:
- Second-degree murder
- Illegal Carrying of a Weapon
- Firearm Free Zone
Chavis' bond was set at $550,000.
