Lt. Craig Stansbury with the Lafayette Sheriff's Office joined The Morning Report today to talk a little bit about the growing problem on meth labs....both mobile, and in local neighborhoods.  Stansbury says the problem is exploding, figuratively and literally.

A recommendation to put a property tax on the ballot this fall to help pay for Lafayette Parish public school structural improvements has been put on hold.

A press conference was held this afternoon at city hall addressing a mistake in Lafayette's council district calculations.  Council Chairman Kenneth Boudreaux tells KPEL news the council will have to consider other options at a special council meeting next Monday...

Joey Durel, Lafayette City Parish President, joined Ken Romero and Bernadette Lee for "Lafayette Live".  Durel talked about Tuesday's Council vote where members Jared Bellard and William Theriot delayed a final vote on their measure.  The measure would halt local government from passing any taxes without a vote of the people.  Durel shares his thoughts:

This morning's edition of The Morning Report included a visit from U.S. Senator David Vitter on the first anniversary of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon which killed eleven people.  Vitter comments on current events.

Today's edition of Wingin It Wednesday featured panelists Anthony Emmons, Mike Stagg and Carol Ross talking about the President's approval numbers and what's been happening with the budget.  Things got tense.

City Parish President Joey Durel tells KPEL news why he thinks the no tax district ordinance is a bad law.

The man accused of transporting nearly one million dollars worth of Cocaine on I-10 in St. Martin Parish was sentenced today.

Joyce Linde with the Tea Party of Lafayette joined The Morning Report today to discuss tonight's Lafayette City Parish Council Meeting.  Linde says their members support the ordinance 0-088-2011 because it would require a public vote before any taxes could be levied.

The Tea Party of Lafayette is expected to take a stand at tomorrow night's special council meeting.

Corporal Paul Mouton with the Lafayette Police Department is giving residents tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of a car burglary.   In the recent rash of car burglaries police say all of the cars were not locked.

The Chairman of the Lafayette City Parish Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux came in to talk about a variety of different issues being discussed in Lafayette.  Boudreaux gave his thoughts on the Charter Commission, TIFS and smoking in public.

State Representative Page Cortez of Lafayette joined Bernadette Lee and Ken Romero on The Morning Report to talk about the recently completed special session and to talk about the upcoming fiscal only session of the Louisiana Legislature.  Cortez says the budget will be the primary conern, but other bills will be considered.

Lafayette's Environmental Manager Mark Pope joined The Morning Report for a few minutes today to tell listener's about who qualifies for a free chemical disposal day at Cajun Field tomorrow.  Pope reminds folks that there are only certain citizens that can drop off their unwanted items.
