The Louisiana Federation of Teachers is challenging the state constitutionality of the private school vouchers measure and the teacher tenure reforms bill.
According to data released by the state Department of Education, the dropout rate fell dramatically, making the parish's dropout rate the fifth most improved rate in the state.
State Superintendent of Education John White says 125 schools are participating which will make 5,100 vouchers available to low income students who attend schools with a C, D or F grade.
