Leak of the Chemical Toluene Causes a Partial Evacuation

A leak of the chemical toluene forced the temporary shutdown and partial evacuation of the Lafayette Regional Industrial Park around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.  

Police, firefighters and a hazardous materials team responded to the scene.  The spill occurred at Amcol Health Beauty Solutions.  The leak involved a four-thousand-pound container of toluene requiring a clean-up of the first and second floors of the structure.  No injuries were reported.
